Tarpon
Fishing Season:
May 1 thru Aug 1
Tarpon migrate to the Boca Grande Pass and
surrounding areas on the above dates. This
is prime time as several hundred thousand
tarpon frequent the Pass during this period.
Tarpon can also be found from Pine Island
Sound to Manasota, including Charlotte Harbor.
BOOK EARLY. If you can't
plan your trip around prime time call me,
I will find you a tarpon.
What to bring:
Temperatures range from 75 to 95 degrees during
prime time. The gulf breeze keeps you cool,
however, the sun can be brutal. Sun block,
a pair of polarized sunglasses, hat, camera,
and a long sleeve white cotton shirt are recommended.
Ice will be furnished so bring your own drinks.
Water and sport drinks are a good choice.
Bring your own lunch or we can eat at one
of the many water front restaurants.
Launch site:
We will be leaving the Placida Municipal boat
ramp. The ramp is located on the Boca Grande
Causeway at Rt. 775 before the toll plaza.
The Boater's Guide to Charlotte Harbor is
an excellent tool for navigating around the
area either by boat or car. It also contains
information on aquatic preserves, wildlife,
marinas, dock side restaurants and much more.
